Container Cargo Volume of Jan 2012: The Highest Jan. Ever
The Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs (MLTM) stated on Feb. 6 that Januarys estimated cargo volume in 2012 recorded the highest January volume ever, at 1,806,000 TEUs, an increase of 7 percent year on year. The Busan Port Authority (BPA. President Ki-tae Roh) marks 8th anniversary on Jan. 16. The BPA has been ranked the 5th Super Hub Port through handling the highest cargo volume of 16.14 million TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) last year, announced on Jan. 15. Its proactive marketing strategy enabled the BPA to achieve the 2nd ranked transshipment port in the world, and also recorded the highest growth rate of cargo volume among the top 10 global container ports.
